Winter on

kabetogama lake

Mother Nature has a way of redrawing the map in winter.

When winter settles over Kabetogama, the familiar disappears beneath snow and ice—and an entirely different Northwoods begins to emerge.

The lake becomes a road. Trails disappear into snow-covered forests. Footprints tell stories. Stars seem brighter against the cold night sky. And places once reached by boat invite you to discover them in a completely different way.

Winter doesn't simply change the view here.

It changes where you can go.

Why Winter?

Winter Looks Different Up Here.

Some mornings begin before sunrise, with a fishing line disappearing through the ice.

Others begin with fresh snow beneath your boots, the sound of a snowmobile in the distance, or a trail disappearing into a quiet forest.

Maybe you'll spend the day exploring Voyageurs National Park. Maybe you'll follow tracks through the snow, chase the northern lights after dark, or simply watch winter settle over the lake from somewhere warm.

There isn't just one way to experience winter at Kabetogama.

The only question is: where will yours take you?

Voyageurs National Park:
A Different Park in Winter

When the water becomes ice, the way you experience Voyageurs changes completely.

For the truly adventurous, even camping takes on an entirely different meaning when your campsite is surrounded by snow and stars.

Voyageurs doesn't close for winter. It becomes another park entirely.
